Week July 17th to July 23rd

It was a busy week for the Club's athletes both at home and abroad.

Competing in the World Para Athletic Championships at the Olympic Stadium Georgina Hermitage lived up to all expectations and finished on top of the podium for both the T37 100m and 400m and breaking her own world record with a time of 60.29 in the latter event.

News Round Up July 10th 2017

The Club's athletes have been having an outstandingly successful season both with International recognition and club records falling. Having already done the qualifying time, Adelle Tracey following her second place in the 800m in the World Championship Trials in Birmingham, has won automatic selection for the World Championships in London in August. On Sunday she set a new personal best of 2.00.34 competing in the Olympic Stadium in the Diamond league 800.

Success at the National Inter County Championships

Claudia Lance Jones won the U17 National Inter County Championship title held at Loughborough, with a very well timed finish, and was part of the winning Surrey team.

The U15 girls also ran well well in very poor conditions with Olivia finishing 44th, Ellie  50th and Charlotte 96th.                                   

In the U13 girls race Suzie and Eliza both ran very well with Suzie finishing 14th and Eliza 49th. 

Pippa put in a fine run  to finish 24th in the U20 ladies races.

More International Honours and medals at Indoor Championships

ALEX  SHAW.  As a result of her medal winning performance at the National Indoor Championships  Alex Shaw was invited to run for England in the Home International in Cardiff in the 400m.  In a combined U20 /U18 race Alex (16) won the U18 race.

At the recent Sussex Indoor County Championships ALEX MEARNS won the gold medal in the U17 80m hurdles in a time of 9.77 secs

Success at the National Cross Country Championships!

The National Cross Country Championships were held on 25 February in Nottingham and there were some excellent results.

In the Senior women's race Suzi Monk  finished 89th ,   Yasmin Goater 167th  and  Jess Gill 294th from 788 runners. In the Junior race Pippa Monk finished 30th (148 runners).

In the U17 race Claudia Lance Jones came 5th (252 runners).

The U15 girls won team silver medal with Olivia McDonald 13th , Ellie Sakaria 20th , Charlotte Griffiths 53rd and Lola Wright 80th (426 runners).

Honours for Guildford and Godalming athletes

Congratulations to:

GEORGINA HERMITAGE on being awarded the MBE in the New Years Honours list .  This came as a result of her outstanding performances in the Rio Paralympics where she won the T37 400m and 100m gold medals.

OLIVIA OKOLI on gaining her first International vest.  She will be competing for England in Bratislava on January 29 in the 60m.  This selection comes as a result of her recent win in  the 60m the South of England Under 20  Indoor Championships .

Surrey County Cross Country Championships - Lloyd Park, Croydon

 
There were lots of very good results this weekend starting with Daniel winning the senior South of England 1500m title in a indoor PB of 3.55.91.
 
At the Surrey Cross Country Champs at Lloyd park Guildford came away with 4 sets of team medals, 4 indivilual medals and 6 athletes selected for the National inter counties. Results as follows:
