Surrey Combined Events, Steeplechases and Relay Championships

The Club had a successful weekend at the Surrey Combined Events Steeplechases and Relays Championships at Carshalton at the weekend.  Out of the six club teams entered for the relays five returned to Guildford with gold medals and one with silver and all four women's teams set Championship Best performances.  In the individual events the medal tally was three gold, one silver and one bronze and there was one Championship Best performance.

The two women's teams entered for the Under 17 age group were outstanding. The 4 x 100m team of Paris Joseph, Ellie Grove, Marcey Winter and Olivia Okoli won in 48.49s which was the fifth fastest in the country by a Club team in 2016 and broke the Club's U17/U20 and senior 4 x100m record.

Marcey, Ellie and Olivia were then joined by Alex Shaw for the 4 x300m team and their winning time of 2.47.24 not only broke the Club record but is the fastest time in the country by any Club team in 2016.

In the U20 age group the quartet of Jasmine Mitchell, Jemma Wood, Hannah Knights and Hope Sarti made up the winning championship best teams in both the 4 x100m and 4 x300m. They recorded 49.79 for the 4 x 100m and 2.56.30 for the 4 x 300m.

The fifth gold medal and Championship Best went to the men's U20 4 x400m team of Harry Spawforth, Kit Streek, Sam Westerman and Luke Kelly who finished in 3.37.47Kit and Luke were joined by Elliot Holman and Tom Westerman to take silver in the U 20 4 x100 race.

In the individual events Hannah Knights in only her second race over the steeplechase barriers won the U20, 1500m race in a Championship Best time of 5.14.27. In the combined events Guildford's Isabel Bull and Bryony Bovell won gold and silver respectively in the U13 girl's pentathlon while Marlene Lange was close behind in fifth place.   Alastair Platt won the Under 13 boys event with Luke Dronfield taking the bronze medal. In the U15 girls Maisie Abel was fifth, just 6 points ahead of Lara Davies in sixth place.
