Ranelagh Richmond Half Marathon

Sunday the 5th of May saw round 1 of the 2019 Surrey Road League kick off with the Ranelagh Richmond Half Marathon.  With the race starting at 08:30, it’s a pretty punchy start for a Sunday, but it was a beautiful morning and about 20 degrees cooler than last year’s race, game on!The race was started by our own Ben Evans, he was warmly welcomed by the waiting runners

London Marathon

After scorching hot temperatures last year, the weather was considerably better for runners this year and offered up cool breezy conditions for the 2019 London Marathon.  There were 16 GGAC athletes running this year, a great turn-out with some brilliant performances.

Brighton Marathon 10K Road Race

This past weekend saw a number of Gees head down to the sunny south coast to take on the Brighton 10k. The event organisers had lined up an incredibly fast field and the runners did not disappoint once the gun sounded.

In good running conditions, but for a little wind, 6 runners broke 29 minutes with Nick Goolab setting a new course record, breaking the tape in 28:22

Guildford’s John Sanderson backed up last weekends performance at the National Road Relays, coming home in 16th place in a new PB of 29:46

National 12-stage Road Relays

This past weekend saw the Senior Men make their first trip to the iconic Sutton Park for the National 12-stage Road Relays.

Following a successful showing at the Southern 12-stage Road Relays in Milton Keynes last month, the Gees qualified for this historic event that features some of the best clubs in the country.

Almost perfect conditions greeted the team on arrival with only a mild wind to contend with as well as the ‘undulating’ lap around Sutton Park and a number of ferociously competitive teams.
