On a warm sunny afternoon, a large squad of GGAC runners took on 26 other Surrey-based clubs in the County Road Relay Championships held at Wimbledon Park.
With each leg comprising of just under 3miles, including a sharp climb up past the famous tennis courts of SW19, the Guildford teams were keen to put in a strong performance in the build up to the Southern Road Relays later in the month.
In what must be the club's best performance in these championships, the Gees came away with medals in each of the five categories in which we competed!
GOLD - F45 - Susanna Harrison, Wendy Roberts & Michelle Oldham - who were led out brilliantly by Susanna with the 2nd fastest F45 leg of the day
SILVER - Senior Ladies - Megan Bannister, Charlotte Griffiths, Ellie Sakaria & Chloe Crossman
SILVER - M50 - Jon Monk, Mark Tennyson, Dave Williams & Terry Booth - only 16 seconds away from Gold following an exceptional finishing leg from Terry
BRONZE - M40 - Ben Gilmore, Nick Tearle, Jon Hamblen & Robin Boon
BRONZE - Senior Men 'A' - George Dollner, Andrew Crooks, Matt McDaniel, Rob Ingoldby, James Share & John Sanderson - just 24 seconds away from a Silver medal after ran outstanding final leg by John.
John Sanderson and Terry Booth also took home gold medals for the fastest senior and M50 laps of the day.
There were also some fine performances in the Senior Men's B team from Kit Hawtin, Rob Marcus, Ben Fiddes, Andrew Taylor, Phil Pryke & Nick Tearle (running his 2nd leg of the day!)
A number of special mentions to be added; Wendy Roberts returning to racing for the first time since 2 ankle operations along with the Senior Ladies team, where 3 of 4 were u20s and for some marking an outstanding debut with the Seniors.
Most of the teams are back in action this coming weekend at the Southern Road Relays looking to secure a spot at the National Road Relays in October
