It was a busy week for the Club's athletes both at home and abroad.
Competing in the World Para Athletic Championships at the Olympic Stadium Georgina Hermitage lived up to all expectations and finished on top of the podium for both the T37 100m and 400m and breaking her own world record with a time of 60.29 in the latter event.
Meanwhile Olivia Okoli was in Grosseto, Italy competing for Great Britain in the Under 20 European Athletic Championships in the 100m. After winning her heat and placing second in her semi -final she finished in that most frustrating place of all, fourth, in the final. However the following day she was rewarded with a bronze medal when she ran the anchor leg for the 4 x 100m relay team.
Further away and having to cope with the sweltering heat of the Bahamas, Claudia Lance Jones finished seventh in the final of the 3000m representing England in the Commonwealth Youth (U18) Championships.
At Abingdon on Sunday, the Clubs U 20/17 team won their final Youth Development League match of the season to make it 4 wins out of 4 giving the Club top spot in the league. The team are now looking forward to promotion to Premier 2A next season.
