Top twenty for the Senior Men & Women at the National Road Relays & Gold at the Surrey XC Relays.

National 6 & 4 Stage Road Relays – Sutton Park – Saturday 05th October 2024.

Guildford & Godalming’s Senior Men finished 16th at the National 6 Stage road relays with the Senior Women also finishing well in 18th position in the 4 Stage event. This is the Men’s third consecutive top 20 placing, finishing 11th in 2013 and 18th in 2022.

Dan Wallis, Nick Lightfoot, John Sanderson, Tom Foster, Callum Job and Cameron Reilly all battled valiantly throughout the contest, keeping the team in or around a top 20 finish.

Two weeks earlier at Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot the Men had qualified for these National relays with a 22nd place finish at the South of England Road Relays. The team that day was Dan Wallis, Tom Foster, Matthew McDaniel, Andrew Welch, Kay Davies and Callum Job. The first twenty five ‘A’ teams from the ‘South’ qualify and combine with the same number of qualifiers from the Midlands and Northern regions of England.

The Senior Women also had an excellent day finishing 18th in the National 4 Stage event – their best since 2021 when they finished two places higher. Suzie Monk, Evie Warren, Eloise Hudson in her debut for the Senior’s and Hannah Knights were the four who combined brilliantly to achieve this result.

The women who did not have to qualify for the National event also ran excellently at the Southern 4 Stage with Suzy Lecoutre, Evie Warren, Hannah Knights and Eleanor Harrison combining well to record a 10th place finish.

Surrey Cross Country Relays – Nonsuch Park, Cheam – Saturday 05th October 2024.

Guildford’s Senior Men won the inaugural Surrey Cross Country relays at Nonsuch Park. Matt McDaniel got the team off to the perfect start coming in first on leg 1. Colin High had tough opposition on leg 2 as he battled with Holland Sports Jack Kavanagh who ran the quickest leg on the day. Charlie Pickett reclaimed the lead on leg 3. Mark Tennyson and Ollie Gosden maintained the advantage on legs 4 & 5, before Terry Booth anchored the team to Gold ahead of a very fast-finishing Hercules Wimbledon team.

These relays replaced the Surrey Road Relays which usually take place in September in Wimbledon Park, but this year did not go ahead due to not finding a suitable venue.
